What is this service?
South London Cares is a community organisation of people aged 65 and over who get together with their neighbours, in their 20s and 30s, to share time, friendship and fun across Lambeth and Southwark. We have around 20-25 Social Clubs every month, held across the two boroughs, including; dances, technology workshops, chair yoga and visits to local galleries and museums. Every clubs is completely free to attend all you need to do is call us up to let us know you're coming. If you're interested in meeting a younger neighbour, but perhaps can't get out and about, we can match you up, one-to-one, with a volunteer through our Love Your Neighbour programme. Once you're matched up with a volunteer they would visit weekly for a catch up and a cuppa. Every winter, from October - March we run our Winter Wellbeing project where we hope to help people, aged over 65 in Lambeth and Southwark, keep warm, active, healthy and connected. We can deliver blankets and warm items to your door, if you're feeling the cold. We have Winter Grants for people facing difficult circumstances over the winter months and we work closely with other organisations who can help with benefits advice and energy saving.
